We often visit shopping malls, multiplexes, amusement parks, hotels, restaurants, museums etc. Most of the times we appreciate the beauty of these places. It is all about creating the right kind of a mood and ambience. You must be often suggesting a particular restaurant to your mates or relatives when it comes to taking their date out. Why do you suggest that particular restaurant?

No, it’s not only because of the food. You must have noticed that women hardly eat when they go out on a date. It’s the mood that the restaurant is able to create and this mood is created by the stunning commercial lighting put up by the restaurant. The light effect might be nothing but just a tall candle on your table just enough to make you watch what you are eating. Infact, the candle light might not even be bright to see the face of your date clearly. However, it’s the mood that matters and the candle sure can create it.

On the other hand, you would be the last person to recommend the same restaurant if your mate wants to give a promotion bash to you guys. You definitely don’t want to sit with your friends in candle light, do you? So on such occasions you would go for something brighter. You will most likely recommend a restaurant which provides commercial lighting similar to a bar or a nightclub where you guys can get into the party mood.

We often forget to give sufficient credit to the companies that create these commercial lighting designs, and at the end of the day, a restaurant is more remembered for the food or the live music than the lighting.

When it comes to lighting, bright lights are often used a lot and it is completely opposite to the kind of light effects we would create in our homes. Commercial lighting is all about creating a focus and trying to catch the attention of the people.

You must have visited an auditorium to watch a play or an opera. You must have seen the different types of light effects that the lightman creates according to the mood of the play or the opera. The emotions are displayed with the help of the lights. Now imagine that you are watching a play wherein a very intense emotional scene is being displayed and the stage is messed up with some flashy colorful lights. Would that add up to the emotions that the actors are trying to get in? It definitely would not. This is the importance of commercial lighting. It is a mood setter.
